Focus on an important stylish sport man!
If you try to write the key word “Mountain Bike” on YouTube Ita, the first result will be:
Marco Aurelio Fontana.
This term, nowadays present in all world languages, puts in the first place not an Italian, ma the best Italian in this sport!
Exactly Marco Aurelio Fontana. 31 years old, born in October. In his career several kilometers, the Olympic Podium, the title as Italian champion and many projects about races to win.
You easily recognize him also for his unique style: buggy short pants as freerider, large t-shirt and “Redbull” mini helmet. We have just interviewed him. Few easy questions.
thanks for your availability on our “Lifestyle” section! The first answer is why.
We like to consider your look in MTB “easy & sporty”, while all your biker colleagues compete with classic lycra stort pants, very skinny… You love wearing large short pants. Is real important for you being cool during the competitions?
I’m here! Well… the look is an important element for everybody. Now: why should I wear “cool” for an happy hour and not in other occasions? Why should we go biking with the same old style? The biker is not only an agonistic tool, but also both vehicle and fun. I would like that people are at easy with its bike on trail as when they are in a coffe bar. A casual loose look make us bikers trendy and not race’s dependents.
How do you like wear in your leisure? Do you follow a trend or do you like change? We are looking around…
My mood is the same of a biker: I need to be stylish but also confortable. Vintage/used shoes (such as ankle boots!) matched with chino jeans are perfect, even if lots followers don’t like them… but it is my style! I like also matching trench coats and long jackets… always with casual style. I love the vintage and the “Lupin” style.
In our market, the attention for details is leading. During the competition, when you train for your performance, how do you take care of all details and which of them you keep for yourself?
Helmet and agonistic shoes are always with me. I bring them along to avoid the risk of loosing them. When I train before any competition, I always take care of wearing the official outfit. I think it is important when you are in an official team. I take care also of my sunglasses, changing the glass according to the forecast weather.
Lots of people nowadays revalue the mountain bike and here, in Martina Franca, we have the Itria Valley which offers natural landscapes and cycle routes to discover. Would you give them (and to anyone will live the “Around Puglia”) a biker’s suggest?
I suggest everybody to proceed step by step, having fun in any situation and condition. For example, if it is raining go but watch out for the tires, selecting apt ones. In addition, try to find new routes and clean them improving your performance (and as good behaviour).
Finally, all followers would ask you this question. The Coppa del mondo UCI 2015 plans two important events. The first one in the Czech Republic (“Nove Mesto”) and the other one in the noted route of Albstadt, in Germany. How are you? How are you training for these two trails? We are looking forward for knowing your ambitions for this season 2015.
I have positively started the season and I made a greater performance even without the win! Now I have to do my best for the two steps of Couple, which are also the beautiful ones and richful of audience. I want be in the Top 5 , strong for the Andorra’s World Cup!
We hope you win also in the 2015, wishing this time it will happens with the blue t-shirt of World Champion! Greetings and best wishes!
Good Bye Marco!
